First soccer coach in history to take a team from Africa (Cameroon's National Team) to the quarterfinals of the World Cup, defeating Argentina along the way. This achievement at the 1990 World Cup in Cameroon is still remembered today, as in the capital there is Valerie Street, named after him, as well as the Nepo bar. 

Uzbekistan, China, Japan, Korea, Turkey - Valery was a coach in these different countries and achieved excellent results with his teams in most of them. In Russia, he worked with teams such as Tom, CSKA and Baltika.
