The Serie A matchday 28 clash between Genoa CFC and Roma will take place on 8 March at the Luigi Ferraris in Genoa. Genoa CFC vs Roma: prediction, betting odds and statistics.
Genoa CFC
In the previous round, Genoa CFC lost to Inter Milan (0:2). Daniele De Rossi’s side remain three points clear of the relegation zone, but that gap is hardly enough to feel comfortable. The club are currently 15th in the standings with 27 points. Despite their league position, the home team have looked fairly good going forward. Since the start of the season, the squad have scored 32 goals and, by that metric, they are the best attacking side among the ten teams in the bottom half of the table. However, even those numbers do not always help the club pick up wins. In their last six matches, Genoa CFC have won only twice (three draws, one defeat), while scoring 10 goals.
- In 14 home matches this season, the team have recorded four wins (four draws, six defeats).
- The hosts have found the net in each of their last five home league games.
- At least two goals have been scored in nine of the club’s last 11 Serie A matches.
Potential Genoa CFC Lineup (3-4-1-2)*
Justin Bijlow – Johan Vasquez, Leo Ostigard, Alessandro Marcandalli – Aaron Caricol, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Morten Frendrup, Mikael Egill Ellertsson – Tommaso Baldanzi – Vitinha, Lorenzo Colombo
Defender Sebastian Otoa, midfielder Brooke Norton-Cuffy and forward Tommaso Baldanzi will miss the match through injury.
Roma
Roma’s draw with Juventus last time out (3:3) prevented them from closing the gap to Napoli, who are two points ahead. What is more, the side not only let victory slip after holding a comfortable two-goal lead until the final 10 minutes, but also handed points to a potential rival. Even so, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men remain in the top four with 51 points. Roma’s defence deserves particular mention – it remains the best in the league. Across 27 matches, the team have conceded only 19 goals, which is an average of 0.62 per game.
- At least two goals have been scored in eight of Roma’s last nine Serie A matches.
- In 13 away matches in the 2025/26 season, the team have recorded seven wins (one draw, five defeats).
- In five of the last seven away league matches, one of the teams failed to score.
Potential Roma Lineup (3-5-2)*

Genoa CFC vs Roma: Match Prediction
Recent results suggest Roma’s defence has started to show cracks: the team have conceded six goals across their last five matches. However, five of those goals came in clashes with Napoli and Juventus. Even so, those figures have not stopped Gasperini’s side from taking points: their unbeaten run in the league now stands at four matches (two wins, two draws). What is more, against less illustrious opponents the club remain dependable at the back – Roma have won their last five league games without conceding.
As for Genoa CFC, despite a relatively solid attacking game for a mid-table side, they have found it difficult to score against the division’s heavyweights. There was, of course, a recent match against Napoli, but the Neapolitans have one of the worst defences among the top seven teams in the league. In addition, in recent rounds the hosts’ attack has looked less convincing: they keep scoring, but mainly against weaker opponents or clubs with defensive issues, and Roma’s back line cannot be described that way. Given the visitors’ congested schedule and their style of play, a high-scoring contest seems unlikely. Furthermore, in six of Roma’s last seven away games, no more than three goals have been scored.
Prediction: Roma, double chance + Under 3.5 goals
