UEFA Nations League 2020-21: Tournament Information and Sports Betting Odds
The UEFA Nations League is a tournament that was created with the intention of partially replacing friendly matches while also increasing the interest of international fixtures.
The main prize of the current 2020-21 Nations League tournament is a place in the World Cup Playoffs for the two top-ranked teams. Good performances in the tournament will also affect the team's world ranking, so it is difficult to underestimate the importance of the UEFA Nations League.
The tournament itself was put together very nicely. It is set up so that teams of similar rankings are matched against each other. In addition, it is now easier for smaller teams to gain experience in official international competitions.
Rules and Regulations
All 55 European teams will take part in the 2020-21 Nations League. They are divided into four leagues (A,B,C,D) depending on their spot in the UEFA rankings. The first three leagues are divided into four groups, League D with the weakest teams is divided into two groups.
The 16 best European teams will play in the playoffs - four groups of four teams. The winners of these groups will advance to the championship game, which will take place in June 2021. The best in the groups B, C and D will move up a league. The worst teams from Leagues A and B will move down one league.
Since there are four groups in League C and two in League D, two teams will be relegated from League C, which will determine the outcome of the playoffs in March 2022.
If the team that finished last in the League C group makes its way to the 2022 World Cup play-offs through qualification, then League C will automatically lose the 47th and 48th teams in the League of Nations rating.
How to get to the World Cup 2022 through the League of Nations
In the play-offs for the right to play at the World Cup, the two best (according to the tournament rating) teams from the League of Nations groups will join the ten teams who did not make it to the World Cup through the European Qualifiers.
According to the results of these playoffs, three teams will advance to Qatar in 2022.
In the first of 12 teams, six teams (three pairs) will advance to the next round. The winners of these pairs will go to the World Cup.
