The PGA Masters Kicks Off Today: Here’s the Odds and Sports Betting Lines
No, we are not having an end of the year stroke. This year’s PGA Masters is set to begin today with Lucas Glover, Corey Connors, and C.T. Pan taking the 1st tee off beginning at 7:00 AM. The tournament will take place outside of April for the first time since 1948, due to the pandemic.
However, the top competitors are ready to go to determine the winner of one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. The famous tournament will of course be held at Augusta National Golf Course, the 18-hole course with a par of 72. With a new batch of favorites and an under the radar Tiger Woods returning, this should be a fun Masters.

Betting Odds from BetMGM Sportsbook
Bryson DeChambeau (+750) has long been a favorite for this tournament. The 27 year-old from Modesto, California is currently ranked sixth on the PGA Tour. The updated ranking reflects his form, after a comfortable win at the US Open in September, shooting an under six total.
He comes with a plan for this Masters, hoping to win based on long drives from the tee. Rory McIlroy is also one of the favorites heading into the tournament, as the player is ranked fifth on the PGA tour after finishing tied for eighth place in the US Open.
Dustin Johnson (1st) Jon Rahm (2nd) and Justin Thomas (3rd) round out the tournament favorites.
Betting lines on the 2020 Masters
Due to some rule changes that will go into effect for the first year, certain betting lines are now looking more enticing for this year’s Masters. The biggest amendment was to the Masters’ cut rule meaning that only the top 50 players will be continuing in the tournament by the weekend.
The ‘10 shot rule’ will also not be in effect, as the Masters is looking to cut down more players due to high levels of entries in recent years. Therefore, players within ten shots of the lead after the first two rounds will no longer be guaranteed entry through to the weekend.
Both of these are resulting in more attractive betting odds for players to miss the cut, including even the top golfers and favorites.
Heading for Another USA Winner?
Golfers from the United States have won the last two Masters tournaments, and includes seven of the top ten favorites going into the 2020 tournament. The host country has also had 37 different winners in the competition’s history, compared to three from the next country on the list Spain.
Betting Odds for the winner being American are therefore quite good, however there are a couple of variables including favorites Jon Rahm and Hideki Matsuyama who could break the two-year streak.
Participants in the tournament will also be competing against their fellow countrymen as well, leading to some interesting possibilities, especially for countries who are not favored. When looking at certain countries, underdogs suddenly become favorites.
Bets on players to finish highest in their country could reveal a better value for underappreciated or rated golfers. Especially if they are not quite fit to win the whole tournament, this could be the perfect opportunity to sneak a winning wager on them.
