The Top Sports Betting Location in Each Legal State
The casinos of Las Vegas, the professional sports stadiums or the bar down the street. Is there a hidden gem of a sports betting location near you? Since the passing of legal sports betting in the United States, physical sportsbook locations have been popping up in each state all with different styles and offers.
Whether you prefer betting in a more laid back environment or the grand lights of a more lit scene, these are the best sports betting locations in each legal betting state.
Arkansas - Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort
Online sports betting has not yet been approved in Arkansas, which means that physical sports betting is the only option. The number of brick-and-mortar locations is also currently low, with only three available. Of those three, Oaklawn in Hot Springs was the first and remains the favorite in the state. The sportsbook has 24-hour betting kiosks and is located in the racing section of the casino, which provides a great atmosphere to make bets and watch the horses.
Colorado - DraftKings at Mardi Gras Casino
Despite the booming competition coming out of the Colorado betting industry, the Mardi Gras Casino in Black Hawk comes out a clear winner. The casino partnered with DraftKings for sports betting, and the kings of fantasy sports went all out.
Filled to the brim with amenities including 43 big screen televisions and odds boards in total, eight betting kiosks, full service bar and sportsbook and even a VIP lounge, players can spend hours here just taking it all in. When checking out the long list of casino sportsbook locations in Black Hawk, this one is a definite must stop.
Delaware - Delaware Park Casino
Like Arkansas, mobile sports betting is not yet allowed in Delaware. The state also only has a few physical sports betting locations throughout. It's understandable, the market in Delaware is quite small, and none of the three locations will realistically compare to Las Vegas, or even Iowa. Still, Delaware Park Casino in Wilmington will likely be your best bet, as it does the most to bolster its sportsbook.
For NFL betting especially, the sportsbook is number one with weekly wager sheets, parlay cards and special promotions like the ‘6 out of 6 football pick ‘em’. The sportsbook hours are good and the surrounding casino is highly revered in the state.
Illinois - Betrivers Sportsbook at Rivers Casino
Illinois sports betting officially got started in March 2020 and has received large popularity from the sports-crazed state, including many top sportsbooks. Illinois loves to root for the home team, and in the case of best betting location, it's no different. BetRivers is the product of Chicago’s own Rush Street, and is partnered with Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, about a 30-minute drive to Chicago.
The sportsbook itself has a lounge area that is like a full casino in one room. Big screen TVs surround the walls with a full service bar in the middle and plenty of seating. BetRivers is one of the biggest sportsbooks in terms of lines, and offers plenty of special features like bet-builders, jackpot parlays and watch parties for the biggest events.
Indiana - Winner’s Circle at Caesar’s Indiana Grand Racing and Casino
As a state with full mobile and physical sports betting, the competition is close in Indiana. This includes the race for the best location for betting in the state. When it came to the finish line, it was the location that has actual races right on location. There are plenty of Winner’s Circle locations in Indiana, but the one in Shelbyville features live racing seven months out of the year in addition to the sportsbook.
Winner’s Circle Sportsbook features a large, open-style betting area with kiosks, full service restaurants and even its own special promotions for betting. The major American sports can be bet on here with selections including singles, teasers, parlays and more. Add in Caesar’s Rewards Program and it makes the perfect place to spend the day betting.
Iowa - PointsBet at Catfish Bend
The international sensation PointsBet landed in Iowa in August 2019 through its partnership with the Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington. With it came the brand new sports betting lounge inside the casino. The two partners went all out with this one, edging out the competition to make it our favorite physical location in the Hawkeye State.
Featured in the sportsbook is a huge full service bar, betting kiosks and cashiers and a room filled with luxury seating and big screen TVs. There are not too many sportsbooks that can beat PointsBet either. The Australian-based powerhouse has a large selection of betting lines, promotions and ways to bet including its signature ‘Pointsbetting’ style.
To fit Iowa’s allowance of full mobile betting in 2021, PointsBet has also released the Iowa edition of its betting app which can be downloaded beforehand.
Michigan - FanDuel at the MotorCity Casino
Despite the constant delays pushing back the launch of sports betting in Michigan, the state was still predicted to be one of the biggest markets in the country. This has only become more apparent with the launching of several physical sportsbooks, none more epic than the FanDuel Sportsbook at the Motorcity Casino in Detroit.
This physical location, unlike nearly all others, is a two-story goliath with 67 HD TVs, six betting windows and 54 total betting kiosks. The sports ticker, theater-style seating and VIP area are even more reasons to make a stop. The main thing that makes this place so great though is FanDuel itself.
One of America’s most popular sportsbooks for good reason. FanDuel has a large selection of sports to choose from, a great mobile app and even horse racing available.
Mississippi - Hard Rock at Hard Rock Biloxi
Thanks to the beautiful and lively Biloxi, there are plenty of locations for sports betting in Mississippi. Though online betting has still not made its way to the state, there are plenty of premier sportsbooks set up at the Biloxi casinos. Hard Rock is the most famous out of the casinos there, and the sportsbook inside lives up to the brand’s name.
The Hard Rock sportsbook itself was recently renovated to include a bar & grill portion as well, upping the value of the location even more. There are plenty of TVs showing multiple games, betting kiosks and the Hard Rock Rewards Program which helps you rack up points for future visits. The sportsbook is also known for drink specials and football watch parties each season.
Nevada - BetMGM at theMirage
There was always only going to be one city from Nevada singled out, although Reno does have some quality locations as well. Las Vegas and Atlantic City are the two biggest sports betting cities in the country. As such, the competition is immense. For us, the BetMGM sportsbook at theMirage beats them all.
The open nature of the sportsbook is one of the big attractions, as it opens up to the casino itself lending to big crowds gathering around. The location features great seating, a large selection of restaurants nearby and a ton of games and betting lines.
In addition, BetMGM pretty easily handles all of the competition when it comes to the mobile betting app. Most Vegas apps aren't too in depth, and BetMGM is able to massively stand out here.
New Mexico - The Sportsbook at the Inn of the Mountain Gods
With no online betting and a sparse landscape, the sports betting scene in New Mexico is understandably small. However, there is a little bit of variety with four different sportsbooks, located within the tribal casinos within the state. Out of the four, the Sportsbook at the Inn of the Mountain Gods is the most complete. The recently renovated book features great seating, easy to watch games and is open 12 hours a day.
New Jersey - William Hill at the Prudential Center
The biggest and most profitable state in the country for sports betting. New Jersey also has the most diverse market as nearly every major sportsbook has launched in the state. Atlantic City alone has a bigger sports betting scene than most states. Naturally, when choosing just one sportsbook location it was the toughest out of all on the list.
However, we believe that there is truly nothing cooler than opening up shop at the NHL’s New Jersey Devils stadium in Newark. The William Hill Sports Lounge opened in the stadium in 2019 and is open for all Devils’ games and other events.
The Lounge has a full bar, sports betting odds and special promotions. Betting kiosks allow guests to bet on the games and then watch them in person for an experience that is sure to expand to other venues.
New York - Caesar’s Lounge at Yellow Brick Road
Like other states on the list, New York does not have mobile betting (though that could change in the near future), but it does feature a more diverse and premier sports betting scene than others. Some of the top sportsbooks are available, but with no mobile betting it's all about the setting.
The Caesar’s Lounge is truly something spectacular. The Lounge is just like you might expect, extremely cozy and in the style of New York class. This is not an average sports betting location. There are more than 30 big-screen TVs and seven VIP rooms for guests. The seating takes place on leather couches and can hold more than 200+. Caesars also brings its Vegas-style sportsbook to the East Coast.
Pennsylvania - Unibet at Mohegan Sun Pennsylvania
The state of Pennsylvania has also recently become one of the biggest in the country for sports betting. It has already surpassed many of the other states in handle and betting revenue. This is in part thanks to a large variety of some of the top sportsbooks that operate there.
Unibet Sportsbook at the Mohegan Sun Casino is a premier choice for a sports fan. Though certainly not the biggest, its location and style give it a relaxing and aesthetic atmosphere hardly replicated elsewhere. Unibet itself has great promotions, long sportsbook betting lines and a great mobile betting app that can match up against any.
West Virginia - William Hill at The Mountaineer Casino, Racecourse & Resort
The Mountaineer Casino, Racecourse and Resort with the William Hill Sportsbook gets the nod here in West Virginia, as the complete package is just incredible. William Hill itself carries one of the most complete and experienced sportsbooks in the country along with a mobile betting app to match.
The racecourse at the Mountaineer is onsite and lends guests some great live entertainment to go along with their betting. There are a good number of restaurants nearby and the sportsbook has great hours which stretch all the way until 1:00 AM Friday through Sunday.
