For the New Jersey site, William Hill currently features 11 sports to bet on. The sports are listed on the left side of the site’s homepage. Among the sports are the country’s most popular including baseball, basketball, football and hockey. The sportsbook appears to be solely focused on US-based sports as exotic sports such as cricket are nowhere to be found. Auto racing, golf and UFC/MMA and boxing fights are also available on the site. Australia Rules Rugby is the sole sport that primarily takes place in a foreign country. The globally revered sports tennis and soccer round out the list. The sportsbook itself is fairly easy to navigate. The sports are all listed on the left side of the screen in alphabetical order. Down the center of the homepage you can see the most popular upcoming events. This is separated by sport and not necessarily in the correct order by time. However, for each section of sports, the games starting the soonest will be first. All of the games listed will have the main odds for them listed next to them. There is also a section at the top that will periodically display different promotions and “trending” bets with odds.
Both the NFL and NCAA are available leagues to bet on for football. For each individual NFL game you can expect to find around 50 markets offered to the player. However, there is also a strong concentration on NFL futures and individuals player markets. The main three markets the spread, money line and totals bets are each featured on the front of the page. You can also make these types of bets for the first halves and the individual quarters of a game. One of the more interesting bets that we haven’t seen in many sportsbooks in New Jersey is a bet on how the teams will score first. You can bet on the possibility of a field goal, safety or a touchdown by either of the teams. There is also the possibility to choose that no one will score, with the odds for this and the safety being equally astronomically high. This bet is available for both halves. Totals bets include total number of touchdowns scored, turnovers and quarters won for both teams. These can also be done for both of the teams individually. Prop bets include the team’s winning margin, team with the most punts, the first team to turnover and more. There are significantly fewer lines available for the NCAA games with six being a high number for this league. For an NCAA game you can find the main three bets of course. The only other markets come from a variation of these bets available for both the halves and the quarters. Like it was stated earlier, NFL futures bets have a good number of markets themselves. You can place wagers on the winners for each of the divisions, conferences and the eventual Super Bowl winner. There are also specials for the NFL season where you can select who will win the MVP award as well as who have the most passing, receiving and rushing yards by the season’s end.
Even in America, a good measure of a sportsbook can be taken from its section on soccer bets and the markets/leagues available. As the most popular sport in the world, it is imperative that bookmakers all over the globe facilitate a good soccer section. William Hill is certainly not the best section we have seen in New Jersey. The selection is quite surprising coming from a European-based sportsbook. The most notable takeaway is the lack of availability for major tournaments such as the Champions League or the Euros 2020. League tournaments are also not shown. The sportsbook does have a decent selection of leagues for the player to choose from including the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Turkish Super Lig, Greek Super League and the Russian Premier League. The top five leagues are all safely there as well, as are the MLS and the Mexican Liga MX. Although the markets for the leagues are quite evenly dispersed the number of markets is quite poor all-around, with an average of around 14 for each game. This means you can normally find the same number of bets for the Scottish Premiership as you can for the English Premier League, albeit a low number. For a game you can bet on the handicap, money line and totals. The money line is available for both the first and the second half of the game. The rest of the available options are located within prop bets. You can bet on the games first goalscorer, choose which players will score goals, choose whether both teams will score or not, and the game’s total goals. You can also wager on total corners with different handicap options, the correct final score and the total amount of cards for the game. With an apparently clear focus on the US market, it is unlikely that the soccer section will be drastically updated in the near future.
For the baseball season William Hill covers the main basics of the betting markets. For a normal regular-season game there are around ten available markets. The money line is available with variations accounting for the possibility of different starting pitchers. You can also find bets on the win with a handicap or on the total number of runs in the game. The alternate lines section is itself very extensive. Just about any handicap you want to place on a team you can find in this section. The same is true for total runs as you can find numbers from Under five to Over 16. The main moneyline and total runs can also be bet on for each individual inning as well. The good thing about the total runs for each inning is that they will offer ranges for you to bet on, including whether there will be zero, one, two or three or more runs scored. There is also the possibility to bet on whether or not there will be a run scored in the first inning or not. The lone market available in the prop bet section is on whether there will be a Grand Slam or not sometime in the game. You can also find futures bets on the 2019 World Series winner and the winners from both the National and American Leagues. With the massive popularity of baseball in the state of New Jersey, it is expected that with time more markets will find their way to the William Hill sportsbook.
